Mathieu Flamini is a center midfielder for Arsenal. He was born on 7 March 1984 in Marseille, France.
Flamini played for his local Olympique de Marseille youth team. He joined it in 2001 and successfully studied there for 2 years.
In 2003 Mathieu was offered to join Marseille senior squad and start a professional career at the home club. During the 2003/04 season the young French midfielder managed to get to the main squad 14 times.
In 2004 the Arsenal F.C. manager Arsene Wenger saw Mathieu in his team and made him move to London. During 4 seasons, from 2004 to 2008, Flamini was a regular fixture in Arsenal starting lineup. During 4 seasons with the club, the Frenchman appeared in 102 games and scored 7 goals.
In 2008 Mathieu continued his career at the Italian Serie A Milan after a 5.8 million euros deal. Initially, Mathieu didn’t feature much at the Italian team, but as time went on, Milan senior coach began to entrust Flamini the position of a center midfielder and playmaker more often. From 2008 to 2013 Flamini made 122 appearances and scored 8 goals for A.C. Milan. At the end of the season Flamini was released from the Italian club and made a comeback to his former side Arsenal.
From 2004 to 2005 Mathieu Flamini played 8 games and scored 1 goal for the French U-21 team. From 2007 to 2008 Mathieu appeared in 4 matches of the French national team.
